At Still Hopes, we believe retirement is not about slowing down—it's about choosing how to spend your time pursuing what matters most to you. Our comprehensive Life Engagement programming offers endless opportunities to discover new passions, deepen existing interests, and contribute meaningfully to our community and beyond.

For the mind, body and soul
Art therapy has many proven benefits, which is why we are proud to offer our grant-funded Art4Life initiative and Vibrant Minds with the University of South Carolina.
Learn from local professionals
Whether you enjoy watercolor, acrylic, craft glue or textiles, residents can find a class that piques their interest. Still Hopes enjoys professional instruction series from renowned local artists, and instruction from our own resident artists across the mediums.
Spaces that inspire
Still Hopes enjoys 7 dedicated art studio spaces equipped for creative crafting or expression. These spaces are perfect for instructor led learning, resident groups or independent creative time. Prefer to view art rather than create it? Enjoy the Hopewell Artists' Gallery, which enjoys a new installment every other month.

Live Music & Community Concerts
Whether it's a small intimate cabaret-style piano performance, an evening of jazz on the lawn, or a packed concert featuring the Glenn Miller Orchestra, our Life Engagement team curates a packed schedule of musical entertainment. Our signature cultural program "Afternoons with Andy Armstrong" features this renowned chamber pianist and his musician friends, bringing world-class chamber music to our campus.
Resident Music & Choir Programs
If being center stage is more your speed, you may find a home in our Still Hopes Singers group choir. Solo acts light up the room during our variety shows, cabaret style singalongs and more.

Educational and Occupational Opportunities
Attend a lecture series by renowned scholars or teach a workshop for your fellow residents. Whatever your interests, Still Hopes offers programming to help you learn, grow and thrive.
Community Service & Volunteer Programs
Make a difference through community service projects like knitting for cancer patients and local food drives. Participate in intergenerational programming with schools, mentor local youth, and engage in civic activities that strengthen both our campus community and the greater Columbia area.

Games, Clubs & Gatherings
From canasta tournaments and bridge clubs to line dancing and trivia contests, there's always something fun happening. Enjoy happy hours, wine and cheese socials, birthday celebrations, and seasonal parties, plus active games like horseshoes, croquet, and Wii bowling for every interest and skill level.
Trips, Tours & Excursions
Discover the best of Columbia and beyond with day excursions to museums, Riverbanks Zoo, USC events, and local restaurants. Join overnight trips and seasonal getaways, or explore nature through eco-tours, garden visits, and bird watching adventures, all professionally coordinated for your enjoyment.

Accessible Van Transport
Still Hopes residents enjoy free scheduled transportation to and from their medical appointments. Enjoy curbside drop off and pick ups and leave the parking lot dance to the rest. Our vans are completely accessible, well-maintained, and can provide concierge service within a 15-mile radius.
