Faith and Spirituality

Spiritual wellness with Episcopalian roots.

In 1963, Dr. Jane Bruce Guignard donated her estate to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral with the sole direction of creating a retirement home where older adults were nourished in mind, body and spirit. Though Still Hopes is now under the guidance of its own Board of Trustees, it is proud of its Episcopal heritage and the principles that guide its mission.

While services and programming align with the Episcopal denomination, Still Hopes welcomes all faiths and spiritualities among its residents, staff and community partnerships.

Chapel of the Holy Spirit

Our beautiful chapel is a testament to the marvel and beauty of faith. With ornate stained glass, beautiful wood trims, and hand stitched kneelers, every detail is thoughtfully and intentionally designed.

The Chapel of the Holy Spirit is a chapel-in-the-round that seats 120 people comfortably. The chapel is fully handicap accessible and is equipped with The Hearing Loop audio system.

Spiritual and Educational Programming

Residents can enjoy 2 weekly services, the Wednesday healing service and Sunday weekly worship with communion. Additionally, our healthcare neighborhoods are given an additional communion opportunity in their specific gathering spaces for those unable to attend the service on Sundays in the chapel.

Residents enjoy additional spiritual programming such as bible studies, altar guild ministry and renowned theological courses like the Alpha Course to nurture their spiritual and intellectual wellness.

The Chaplaincy

Still Hopes is fortunate to have two full-time clergy members on staff to help meet our community's spiritual needs. Our Chaplain and Assistant Chaplain are available to residents, their family and staff for counseling and faithful guidance.

The chaplaincy oversees The Chaplain's Assistance Fund, which aids 3 local non-profits as well as in-need residents and staff.
