What is the significance of the name Still Hopes?
Still Hopes was the third plantation acquired by the Guignard family – the first was Chance, the second was Rising Hopes and the third was Still Hopes. See our History page for more information.

Are pets allowed?
Yes. Pets who meet certain criteria are allowed in the independent living residences. Please contact the Marketing Department for specific details.
Are some floor plans just on certain floors?
There is a variety of floor plans on each floor, but availability and options may differ from building to building.
Do I have priority to move to another level of care?
When you become a member of the Still Hopes community you have priority for a move within the entire campus.
If I want to move from a 2 bedroom apartment to a smaller apartment, how does that work?
It is considered an internal move and will be affected by your initial entry fee and monthly services fee. Please contact Marketing/Admissions for specific details. 803-739-5040.
Do I get my FRP deposit back in full?
Future Residents who were placed on the reservation list after 2003 are eligible to receive 50% of their deposit back if they decide not to come to Still Hopes.
What is the difference between the 50% and 90% entry fee in terms of a good financial investment?
The 50% plan has an amortization schedule of 45 months and the 90% fee has a 5 month amortization schedule. Check with your financial counselor or attorney to determine which fee structure is best for your individual investment planning.
Where will I park my car?
There is assigned parking for all residents based on their building location.
Do I lose my place on the waiting list if I decide not to come to Still Hopes when my name comes up on the list?
No, you are given a Future Resident number which never changes. If you are not ready when you receive correspondence of a vacancy you remain in the same position.
How often do you have rate increases?
Increases generally occur once per year. The most recent increase was 2%.
Will I need home owner's insurance when I get here?
No. But you will need insurance for valuables such as jewelry or antiques. Typically it's called "content insurance."
Will I have to pay property taxes while living at Still Hopes?
No. You do not have to pay taxes on your apartment or cottage.
Do your independent apartments have a "Call System" in the event of an urgent need?
Yes. Still Hopes has instituted a First Responders service that is accessed by a call system in each apartment or cottage. An employee, not necessarily a nurse, will answer the call.
What if I need transportation during the week at Still Hopes?
We offer Scheduled transportation for medical appointments Monday through Thursday, and our Activities Department routinely schedules bus trips for local shopping.
Does Still Hopes accept Medicare or Medicaid?
No. Still Hopes does not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
Why do I have to have a “land line” in my apartment?
All apartments or cottages have a call system that must be connected to a line that will notify the staff if you have a problem or need help. This can only be accomplished with a traditional telephone line.
